The Attitude of Excellence

Objective:
To help you see the importance and significance of Excellence in living a purposeful and fulfilling life.

Definition of Excellence
The state, quality or condition of excelling, superiority or eminence
Possession of exceptional and outstanding qualities
A title of honor given to high ranking officials such as governors and ambassadors

To excel means

1. To rise above
2. To be the best
3. To operate at the highest level possible
4. To stand out

Seven things you must know about Excellence

1. God is an excellent being. His operations are excellent, has an excellent name and He even gave Jesus a more excellent name. Job 37:23; Psalms 8:1,9; Hebrews 1:4
2. Man is made in the image of an excellent God, hence he has the capacity for excellence. Genesis 1:26, Genesis 11:6
3. The world gravitates towards mediocrity because of the death nature that was released in the garden. You must pull (exert force) yourself towards excellence. New Birth gives every believer an advantage to pull upward. Genesis 2:16,17, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 2:6
4. Excellence starts with your mind set. You must plant the seed of excellence on your mind and commit to growing it by constant feeding. Proverbs 23:7; Romans 12:1,2; Colossians 3:1,2
5. Mediocrity comes naturally to a man that does nothing. Excellence requires you to apply yourself consciously. Proverbs 22:29
6. Excellence is never by accident. It is always on purpose. Excellence must be cultivated as a seed. Daniel 1:8, Daniel 6:3
7. God cannot be your excuse for mediocrity. God is looking for exceptional believers and not middle class saints. Philippians 4:5. Revelations 3:15,16.
