Mastering the Art of Love

Mastering the Art of Love Part 1

A)Â Â Â What Love is Not
a.   Love is not a feeling
i.   Love is not based on if you feel it or not. Love is the nature of God that is expressed by the recreated human spirit – Roman 5:5
ii.   Love is the nature of God and also the nature of the new creation – I John 4:16
iii.   Love is the fruit of the spirit – Galatians 5:22-23

b.   Love is not passive
i.   Love is active. It involves acting on God’s Word deliberately. Luke 6:27
ii.   God loved the loved and He gave John 3:16
iii.   Love acts appropriately. The secret to mastering the love-walk is not choosing to be passive at all times but learning to carry-out spirit-led actions

c.   Love is not optional
i.   Although walking in love is a choice we have to make, it is not optional. Mark 12:30-31, John 13:34
ii.   God commands us to walk in love and they are consequences for failing to do so. I John 2:10, I Peter 3:7
iii.   God will not force you but He strongly recommends walking in love so that it may be well with you. Deut 30:19

d.   Love is not a push over
i.   Walking in love does not mean that you never stand up for yourself or for what is right – Mark 11:15
ii.   Walking in love does not mean that you let people take advantage of you -
iii.   Walking in love means that you realize the best solution to any situation is to let God be God in that situation. Walking in Love is walking in God because God is Love – I Corinthians 13:4-8
1.   Helps you stay in a place where you allow God to act instead of acting for yourself
2.   He who walks in Love will outlast everything else that comes
