Ascended With Him

(John 20:17 NKJV)¬†“Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.”

The work of redemption was not complete after Jesus rose up from the dead. One half was finished but He needed to complete the second half. He needed to ascend into the heavens. That was why He told Mary not to touch Him because the work was not done yet. He that descended is also the one who ascended far above the heavens.

When He ascended, He ascended with His blood as an offering to be presented before the mercy seat. The blood sealed the New Covenant that God was to have with man. In the Old Covenant, blood was involved as well. The blood of bulls and goats covered the sins of men. But these sacrifices had to be made over and over again because the blood of bulls and goats was not enough to purchase eternal salvation for man. Thank God, Jesus ascended to offer His blood as the price for our eternal salvation. His blood didn’t just cover sin but it utterly wipes away sin. That is why once you are in Christ, your sins and iniquities are not remembered anymore.

His blood didn’t just wipe away our sins, it also established the New and better covenant that we have with God. A covenant is the strongest relationship and hence commitment that could ever exist between two parties. God has sworn and committed Himself to you by covenant. The blood of Jesus guarantees that covenant. That blood is ever before His throne as a reminder of what His Son has purchased for you.

It is liberating to know you rose with Him above the things that would like to hold you bound. You ascended with Him!

MY DAILY CONFESSION

I am a New Creation in Christ Jesus. I am born of God and born by His Spirit. I am recreated in the image and likeness of God. I am just like Him. Zoe, the life of God, flows in me.

I am a New Creation. The old man has gone, the new me has come. I have been crucified with Christ. I died with Him. I was buried with Him. I was justified in the spirit with Him. I was made alive with Him. I ascended with Him, far above principalities and powers. I am now seated with Him the heavenly places.

I have a new nature and a new identity. The life of God is at work in me. The love of God is my new nature. I have the nature of love and faith as God has it. The forces of God flow out of me continually. The force of joy is in me. Peace, patience, meekness and self-control find expression through me.

I am a spirit, I have a soul and live in a body. I feed my spirit with the Word of God. I renew my mind with the Word. I subject my flesh to the supremacy of my spirit. I am not body-ruled or carnal. I grow in the spirit and in grace. I am full of the Spirit of the living God. I walk in divine authority and divine ability. God is at work in me.

I display God in this natural world. I represent Him adequately. I am a kind of being that has never existed before. The old has passed and everything is now new. My old life is gone and the life that I now live is a shared life with Christ. All things are indeed new!
